Dora García
May 2nd 2011
An encounter based on the artist's book "Mad Marginal".
With "Mad Marginal", Dora García uses a selection of archival documents which relate the birth of the antipsychiatry movement. This historical event serves as a base for engaging with a profound reflection on the figure of the artist as paradigm of marginality. In response to the artist's refusal to view the "Mad Marginal" project as an artwork, Théodora Domenech asks the artist about the ambivalent status of a reference to history expressed by a creator. The philosopher invites us to consider the metaphorical character of the archival document, suggesting the theme: "the poetics of the document".
